The Cosy Autumn Book Tag
Of freaking course I would be doing this incredible tag! It’s my two most favourite things combined in one. I saw this tag on the amazing Elaine Howlin’s blog. If you are looking for the ultimate comfort, gorgeous, and warming book and reading content, her blog is the place. I have been a silent admirer of her blog for the longest time and actually thought I had been following her when I noticed I wasn’t! Sorry Elaine! But thank you for doing this fun tag and sharing it with us. Elaine got the idea off another blog which she notes in her own post here: https://elainehowlin.com/2020/10/13/cosy-autumn-book-tag/

1. What book always reminds you of Fall/Autumn?
A book that always reminds me of Fall/Autumn is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It is a must-read for me every time September 1st comes around. From Harry starting a new school year, to the Halloween and spooky scenes, and the overall witchy theme… this book screams Autumn to me.

2. What is your favourite Autumnal book cover?
My favourite Autumnal book cover is Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas! It’s Autumnal colours are glorious, reminding me of changing leaves. Not to mention Celaena on the cover is such a badass with the sword and red cape!

3. What is your favourite Autumnal drink to read with?
I am sad to say I am that basic to dive deep into the pumpkin spice everything this time of year, so definitely my favourite Autumnal drink would most likely be anything pumpkin but also one of my absolute favourites this time of year is chai tea lattes as well. Really anything spice and warming, I’m all about!

4. Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning?
Both! I love reading at any time of day, but I have realized that in the Autumn months, I tend to read late at night a bit more.
5. Halloween is coming! What is your favourite Spooky read?
Edgar Allan Poe’s Complete Poetical Work. It is the ultimate spooky read for me as I grew up fearing his short stories and poems. I need to read it with the lights on because the imagery he paints is just stunning. One of my favs is The Raven.

6. What is the ultimate comfort read for you?
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis. This is a true Autumn classic for me (although I don’t think it takes place in Autumn) and one of the inspirations behind my current WIP. It fills me up with the same comfort and whimsy I had when I first held the book years ago and read it for the first time.

7. What is your favourite Autumnal reading snack?
I love snacking so naturally I have two Autumn snacks that I gravitate towards when reading. The first is apple spice cupcakes with salted caramel frosting! Omg… these are AMAZING!! The recipe is right here, https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/apple-spice-cupcakes-with-salted-caramel-frosting/
I would have added a photo of my attempt, but it’s not nearly as good as the one of Sally’s website.

The second snack is like a trail mix I make by mixing caramel popcorn, candy corn, salted peanuts, yogurt covered mini pretzels, and any flavour corn nuts together in a bowl. It is soooooo gooood and never lasts more than a single reading sessions for me!
8. What is your favourite Autumnal candle to burn whilst reading?
This changes year to year around the Autumn time as my favourite (and pretty much everyone else’s) candle store, Bath and Body Works, come out with new scents. This year it is Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow. I know it sounds like it smells sickly sweet, but it really doesn’t. It smells like a delicious bakery… it’s usually what makes me get up for a snack in the middle of reading.

9. When you are not reading, what is your favourite Autumnal activity?
When not reading, I love love love watching Halloween or scary movies cozied up at home or even going to the cinema. I basically like to consume stories in any form, and I love the old classic Halloween movies like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Nightmare before Christmas… it’s all on repeat at my house in October.

10. What is on your Fall/Autumn reading list?
On my Fall/Autumn reading list this year are many books that I unfortunately won’t be able to get to, but three of my most anticipated and excited releases are Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E Schwab and The Magpie Society : One for Sorrow by Amy Alward and Zoe Sugg.

Anyone who wants to do this fun tag, please let me know so I can see what your answers are! I absolutely love everything comfort, cozy, and reading so any suggestions are more than welcomed!
