Review – The Lost Dreamer by Lizz Huerta

I am so excited for my first book club related review!

As you may know, I created a book club along some amazing women titled “Fiction Addiction”.

We have read about 3 books so for, and it’s my lucky turn to discuss the March book club pick.

The Lost Dreamer was a lovely story. It was a bit slow paced for my liking but overall it had amazing potential and incredible characters. It was inspired by Mesoamerica which was very interesting to read about!

I would recommend it for those who are interested in intricate worlds but also slow reads or plots that take a while to really dive into.

The lovely ladies of Fiction Addiction shared their thoughts too!!

@comicallycaffeinated: The idea behind this book was such a cool concept. At times I felt like it could have been executed a little better but by the time you finish, it’ll be worth it.

@annasbooknook : I was captivated by the concept of this book but not the execution, and I am really interested to know where the next book will take these lovely characters. I really enjoyed the dual perspectives in this book, but I just wish I didn’t have to wait until the end to understand the story!

@sustainablybookish: I loved that this book was inspired by ancient Mesoamerica. It’s a beautiful story that is tied together by what is revealed at the end. Definitely worth the read if you’re ok with a slow paced book.

Be sure to follow them on their Instagram handles above as each month one of us will be reviewing the book of the month.

Our book for April is Hunt the Stars by Jessie Mihalik.

Here’s the synopsis:

Octavia Zarola would do anything to keep her tiny, close-knit bounty hunting crew together—even if it means accepting a job from Torrance Fletcher, a ruthless former general and her sworn enemy. When Torrance offers her enough credits to not only keep her crew afloat but also hire someone to fix her ship, Tavi knows that she can’t refuse—no matter how much she’d like to. With so much money on the line, Torran and his crew insist on joining the hunt. Tavi reluctantly agrees because while the handsome, stoic leader pushes all her buttons—for both anger and desire— she’s endured worse, and the massive bonus payment he’s promised for a completed job is reason enough to shut up and deal. But when they uncover a deeper plot that threatens the delicate peace between humans and Valoffs, Tavi suspects that Torran has been using her as the impetus for a new war. With the Fate of her crew balanced on a knife’s edge, Tavi must decide where her loyalties lie—with the quiet Valoff who’s been lying to her, or with the human leaders who left her squad to die on the battlefield. And this time, she’s put her heart on the line.

Join us in reading it and then we can all gush about it together!!!
