Books I Want to Read July 2023
Another month, another careful curation of books I want to read! I’m not entirely sure why I have more of a desire to read in the summer months, I think it definitely stems from having summers off from school growing up, so I would try to devour every and any book before the school year returned with it’s exams and homework. Either way, I am not complaining because this month some highly anticipated releases will finally be on shelves. I do tend to lean more towards fiction and romance novels around the summer time as that seems to be when most of them are published. But of course, YA and…

Book Review – Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken
I am so happy to be writing another book review because this means that I loved the book and wanted to talk about it to anybody willing to listen! If I had to describe a true YA Fantasy book that gives you all the feels, mystery, and a badass FMC to root for, I would just tell you to read Silver in the Bones by Alexandra Bracken. It was such a quick read but in the best way because it kept me wanting to learn more about the world, the characters, and their untimely fates. I loved the touches to Arthurian legend, how it played on a classic tale in…

Book Review – Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
I have found my favourite book of 2023. Yes we are only 6 months in, and some of my most anticipated reads of this year have not even been released yet, but I think I have found the one. This book… THIS BOOK… Oh my goodness the way it floored me completely and utterly from the second I read the first page until weeks, WEEKS, after I finished it. It’s been a while since I had a book hangover and this book did just that. The characters were just.. AH. The concept, the plot, the world, the dragons!!!! I know I tend to get overtly excited when talking about books…

Book Review – House of Pounding Hearts by Olivia Wildenstein (Kingdom of Crows #2)
So if you read my review on the first book in the series (Kingdom of Crows # 1 – Review), then you know my need to read the second book was unbearable. Halfway through reading the first book, I ordered the second book and as soon as I finished House of Beating Wings I started House of Pounding Hearts. You know how sometimes you think “wow, that was so good, like either the next book is gonna sink or it won’t live up to the first one”… well… it lived up and then some. I found myself falling more and more into the world as we got to see it…

Writing Journey | Overcoming Fear, Self-Doubt and Failures
Hii! I know, crazy I am posting this type of blog post on this lovely Monday. I just did a quick check – the last time I wrote a journal entry was September 2022… 9 months ago! I truly wish I could say in those 9 months, I wrote an amazing first draft that I am now editing away with the intention to query soon to hopefully have my book published… but that would be a HUGE lie. The excitement I have when opening up a fresh blog post knowing full well I will be diving into a writing update was long gone. I would back out, get too scared…

Book Review – House of Beating Wings by Olivia Wildenstein (Kingdom of Crows # 1)
I’ve run out of ways to start these book reviews without sounding like a broken record because this book was just… ahhhh… chef’s kiss times ten! I read it all in one sitting, despite half-way through I tried and I mean TRIED to stop myself from reading too quickly because I genuinely wanted to savour it but I just couldn’t. I had to keep reading and good Lord, I was not disappointed. From the plot that kept me on the edge of my seats, to the characters I kept shouting at out loud, to the romance that at times made me so sad yet so happy… how I don’t even…
